User Data & Limited Use disclosure

Last updated June 1, 2026

A focused, honest account of exactly what the Apply To It browser extension accesses, why it needs it, and the limits on how we use it. This complements our full Privacy Policy.

01 Summary

The Apply To It extension exists to help job seekers save job postings they view on supported sites and use those saved postings inside the Apply To It web app. This lets you track your job search, return to postings later, and compare resumes against job descriptions.

The extension is designed to work on supported job posting pages. It reads the role-describing content needed to identify and save the job, then sends that information to your Apply To It account.

In one line

We collect job-posting data you view on supported sites to provide and improve Apply To It’s job tracking, resume comparison, and job-search insight features.

02 What the extension accesses

When you open a job posting on a supported site, the extension reads visible, role-describing content from that page. This may include:

DataPurpose
Job title & companyIdentify the posting in your job search history.
Description & requirementsRun resume comparison, fit scoring, summaries, and job-search insights.
Location, work type & salary rangeProvide context for the role, when the posting lists this information.
Posting link & source siteLet you return to the original posting.
Page URL of the postingDe-duplicate captured jobs and link saved jobs back to their source.

This data is sent over an encrypted connection to your Apply To It account. AI-powered features may send relevant job description text, resume content, and related context to our AI provider strictly to generate your result. See AI processing.

03 Permissions, explained

The extension requests the permissions it needs to provide its user-facing features:

  • Access to supported job sites — to read job posting content on pages you open there. Supported sites currently include LinkedIn, Indeed, and ZipRecruiter, with additional job posting sites added during alpha.
  • Active tab / scripting — to read the current job posting when you are viewing one and use the extension.
  • Tab & navigation access — to detect when the page you are on is a supported job posting, follow in-page (single-page-app) navigation on those sites so a job you click is recognized, and show whether the extension is active or idle. This is used only to recognize supported job pages — it is not used to read or collect your general browsing history.
  • Storage — to keep you signed in, remember extension settings, and support the extension’s normal operation.

We request access for supported job search and job posting sites. We do not request access to all websites for general browsing collection.

04 What it never does

Never reads your general browsing history or captures page content from unrelated, non-supported sites.

Never captures passwords, payment details, or text you type into login forms.

Never captures page content in the background from unrelated sites.

Never sells your data or uses it for advertising or ad targeting.

Never applies to jobs, contacts employers, or makes employment decisions for you.

05 Limited Use commitments

Apply To It's use of data obtained through the browser extension is limited to providing and improving the user-facing features of Apply To It. Specifically:

  • We only collect and use the data described above to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Apply To It’s user-facing features.
  • We do not sell this data, and we do not transfer it to third parties except to operate the Service, provide user-facing features, maintain security, comply with law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you.
  • We do not use this data for advertising, ad targeting, or building advertising profiles.
  • We do not allow humans to read your data except where you give consent, such as a support request you initiate, where it is necessary for security or abuse prevention, or where required by law.
  • We do not use your job data or resumes to train Apply To It’s own AI models, and we do not sell or transfer your data for third-party advertising or generalized AI model training.

06 Your control

You are always in charge of what is captured and what is kept:

  • Pause or disable capture by signing out of, turning off, or removing the extension.
  • Delete captured jobs from the app, individually or in bulk where available.
  • Delete resumes you uploaded from within the app.
  • Request account deletion — see Deleting your data.
