01 Who we are
Apply To It is an independent software project built to help job seekers save job postings, compare resumes against job descriptions, and understand their job search activity.
This policy applies to the Apply To It website, web app, and browser extension, including applytoit.com, alpha.applytoit.com, and the Apply To It Chrome extension.
For privacy questions, data requests, or support, contact us at or .
US residents only
Apply To It is intended for use by residents of the United States. The Service is not designed to comply with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other non-U.S. data protection laws, and we do not target or knowingly offer it to people in those regions. If you access Apply To It from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with your local laws.
02 What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile details. If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Google or LinkedIn), we receive the identifying information that provider shares, such as your email address and name.
Job data captured by the extension
When you open a job posting on a supported site, the extension reads the public, role-describing parts of that page and saves them to your account. This includes:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Job title & company | To identify each posting in your job search history. |
| Description & requirements | To power resume comparison, fit scoring, and job insights. |
| Location, work type & salary | To give context for the role, when the posting lists it. |
| Apply link & source site | So you can return to the original job page. |
| Dates viewed / updated | To help show job search activity and identify stale postings. |
Important
The extension is designed for supported job posting pages. It does not read your general browsing history, the pages you visit outside supported job sites, your passwords, or text you type into login forms.
Content you provide
We collect resumes you upload, notes you write, application statuses you set, and any feedback or support messages you send us.
Usage & device data
We collect standard technical data needed to operate and improve the Service, such as browser type, device type, approximate region derived from IP address, server logs, and product usage events like which features are used.
During alpha, Apply To It does not use a separate third-party product analytics provider unless this policy is updated to disclose that provider.
If you turn on anonymous usage stats in your settings, we may use aggregated, de-identified activity data to understand how Apply To It is used and improve it. This setting is off by default, and you can change it at any time.
03 How we use it
We use your data only to provide, protect, and improve the features you came for:
- Build and display your saved jobs, job search history, dashboard, and analytics.
- Compare your resumes against job descriptions and generate fit scores and suggestions.
- Summarize captured job postings and identify useful job-search signals.
- Operate your account, authenticate you, and provide support.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug problems, and improve reliability.
- Send essential service messages and, only if you opt in, product or launch updates.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your job history or resumes to serve advertising.
04 AI processing
Features like resume comparison, fit scoring, job summaries, and AI-generated suggestions may send relevant job description text, resume content, and related context to OpenAI so the result can be generated.
This processing happens when you trigger an AI-powered action or when Apply To It summarizes a captured job posting as part of the Service.
What this means for you
Job and resume text needed for an AI-powered feature may be transmitted to OpenAI for processing. We use AI providers only to provide Apply To It features, and we do not sell your job history, resumes, or AI results for advertising.
Apply To It does not use your resumes or job history to train its own AI models.
06 Storage & retention
Your data is stored using reputable infrastructure providers, primarily in the United States. We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as long as needed to provide the Service.
If you delete specific items, such as a saved job or resume, they are removed from active systems promptly and purged from backups within 30 days where technically feasible.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account within 30 days, except where we need to retain limited records for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution. See Deleting your data.
Alpha data
Apply To It is currently in alpha. Alpha data may be reset or removed as the Service is tested, improved, and prepared for wider release.
07 Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, including under U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
- Access & export your job and resume data from within the app where available.
- Delete individual items or request deletion of your whole account — see data deletion.
- Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link when provided.
- Disable capture by pausing, signing out of, disabling, or removing the extension.
To exercise any privacy right, email us at . We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
08 Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the bar high and to notify you promptly if a breach ever affects your data, as required by law.
09 Children
Apply To It is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to Apply To It, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
10 Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the Service evolves, especially during alpha. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
